Because water vapor is sneaky. It finds the tiniest gap in a gasket or a wire terminal and crawls right in. Once moisture hits those electrical contacts, you get corrosion. That leads to overheating, and pretty soon, the circuit just dies. By pushing the units to their limit now, we find those weak spots before the product ever hits your customer’s ceiling.
The Stress of the “On-Off” Switch
Heat lamps don’t just sit there. They expand and contract. In a real bathroom, a lamp goes from ice-cold to scorching in a few seconds, then cools back down in a damp room. That kind of thermal shock can crack cheap quartz or wiggle a seal loose. We watch this process closely. We want to make sure that “waterproof” rating isn’t just a number on a spec sheet, but something that actually holds up when things get messy.
The Reality Check
Here’s the deal: no seal lasts forever. Our tests prove these lamps can take a beating for years, but eventually, that intense heat will harden the gaskets. It’s just physics. To get the most life out of them, make sure the fixture has plenty of breathing room. Proper ventilation keeps the housing from overheating, which keeps those seals supple for longer. We build them to be tough, but a good installation is what really pushes the lifespan over the finish line.
